Tighe focuses his law practice on solving problems for business owners so that they can focus on business. Tighe is an avid fan of genre literature, including classical, and modern science fiction, as well as modern fantasy. Tighe is also a passable cook, a professionally-trained eater, a horrible (-yet enthusiastic-) golfer, and anamateur wild Shar Pei tamer.
When working on a worker’s compensation claim, Tighe focuses on equitable solutions for his clients. When the parties cannot reach a settlement, Tighe works with the employer and insurer to provide the best quality defense available. Where the injury was the result of a third party, he attempts to recover benefits paid out by the employer. This often involves intervening in state and federal civil lawsuits.
When defending a Federal Black Lung claim, Tighe works with a number of “local” director’s offices in the eastern United States, appears before administrative judges from a variety of federal offices, and practices before the Department of Labor’s Benefit Review Board and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Tighe is a member of the growing Business Solutions team at FKP. His practice areas are expanding to include a broader spectrum of employment law, wage and hour practices, FMLA and hiring discrimination cases. Tighe embraces an intellectual challenge, and enjoys learning as much as he can about his clients and their needs, so that he is in the best position to advocate for them.
